Gold Rush for Midweek Lotto Tickets
Updated: Wednesday 6th January 2016
Lottery retailers across the nation are bracing themselves for a veritable stampede today as players buy their tickets for the midweek Lotto game this evening. The jackpot, which has rolled over in each of the last 14 draws, is expected to be worth a massive £50.4 million, and as we said yesterday, if the top prize rolls over again then it is guaranteed to be paid out on Saturday. Even if the jackpot does roll tonight, one ticket will definitely win £1 million in the Lotto Millionaire Raffle, and another 20 tickets will win £20,000 each in the Lotto Raffle game, so there are plenty of good reasons for players to get involved today.
The Millionaire Maker game made one UK EuroMillions player £1 million richer last night with the number GXC726529, and that was just as well because no player was able to win the £36 million jackpot in the main game. The main numbers drawn on Tuesday 5 January were 06, 10, 31, 36 and 39, and the Lucky Star numbers were 06 and 10.
There were two tickets – both of which had been purchased outside the UK – that matched the five main numbers as well as one of the Lucky Stars to win €585,428 each, and another two non-UK tickets matched five main numbers only to win €195,142 each. The best that any player in this country could do was match four main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win £2,978 each at the fourth tier, and 17 out of 50 winning tickets at that level had been purchased in the UK.
As usual, the prize amounts were more modest at the lower tiers, but UK players collectively won more than £2.4 million in consolation prize money, so it wasn’t a wasted evening by any means. Of course, players will be hoping to fare even better in the next game on Friday, when the jackpot is expected to be worth around £44 million.
That EuroMillions game is certainly worth looking forward to, but tonight’s midweek Lotto draw, with its advertised £50.4 million jackpot, is even more exciting. The most overdue Lotto numbers at the time of writing are 06, 33, 45, 05, 16 and 36, so do watch out for those and take a look at our Lotto Statistics page if you’d like further inspiration for your entries.
Whatever numbers you choose to play for tonight, be sure to buy your tickets early to avoid the last-minute gold rush and good luck!Published: Wednesday 6th January 2016
