France Wins EuroMillions Jackpot

France Wins EuroMillions Jackpot

The EuroMillions game on Friday 23rd September was the last one to be played under what can now be described as ‘the old rules’, and the good news is that the €23.8 million jackpot was won by a single ticket which had been purchased in France.

The main numbers drawn in last Friday’s EuroMillions game were 14, 16, 39, 42 and 49, and the winning Lucky Star numbers were 03 and 09. France has now won a EuroMillions jackpot – or a share thereof – 80 times since the game began in 2004, and Spain sits in second place with 78 jackpot wins, while the UK recently edged out Portugal for third place as 63 EuroMillions jackpots have been won here.

Six tickets – all of which were purchased overseas – matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star to win a second tier prize of €221,260 each. Another 11 tickets won £26,116 each by matching five main numbers only, and more than 2.01 million entries won smaller prizes across the lower tiers. The total amount of cash won by players in the UK on Friday was £2,282,899, and in addition, one UK player landed a prize of £1 million by matching the Millionaire Maker code, which was VWV951872.

The next EuroMillions game this Tuesday 27th September will be the first under the new rules, so the guaranteed starting jackpot will be worth €17 million, which should equate to around £14 million. Players still choose five main numbers from the range 1 to 50, but they can now choose two Lucky Stars from the range 1 to 12, as an additional Lucky Star has been added to the game.

To celebrate the launch of the new EuroMillions rules, all UK players who participate in the game this Tuesday will also have a chance to win one of ten prizes of £1 million and 100 days around the world in a special Millionaire Maker draw which marks the start of the first-ever Mega Week. Then, on Friday 30th September, the EuroMillions game will offer a guaranteed Superdraw jackpot of €130 million (estimated £109 million).

As you can imagine, demand for tickets for the next couple of games is expected to be particularly high, so those of you who intend to get involved should consider purchasing your entries as soon as possible in order to avoid any last-minute stampede.
