Four Wednesday Lotto Winners
Updated: Thursday 24th April 2014
The Lotto jackpot on Wednesday 25 August was won by no less than four tickets, so the £1,731,568 jackpot prize fund gave each of the lottery winners a prize of £432,892. That might sound a little disappointing for a jackpot payout, particularly when you consider the fact that the odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 13,983,816, but the reason so many tickets matched all six main numbers is probably because they were all in the range 1 to 30. To be more specific, the lottery results were 05, 10, 12, 17, 28 and 30, and the Bonus Ball was 47, making it the only number to fall outside the “days of the month” range.
Seven players matched five of the six main Lotto numbers and the Bonus Ball to win a second-tier prize of £76,122 each. Again, that is less than one might usually expect for beating odds of 2,330,636, but it is still a hefty profit when compared with the small change that it costs to buy a ticket!
The next Lotto jackpot this Saturday 28 August will be worth around £4.4 million, and if you take a look at our Lottery Statistics page you will see that the six main numbers that are most overdue to make an appearance are currently 49, 09, 06, 48, 41 and 29. Now of course all numbers have exactly the same chance of appearing as any others, but with three of the “most overdue” numbers at the higher end of the available range, many players may want to focus on higher numbers for the next few draws just in case things swing the other way in the near future.
Before we get to Saturday’s Lotto draw there is a EuroMillions jackpot of around £12 million to play for on Friday 27 August, and with a Bank Holiday Monday coming up, winning either jackpot – or even a second-tier prize – could give the lucky winner the best possible end to the summer. If you fancy your chances of being one of those lucky lottery winners then buy lottery tickets online today and good luck!Published: Friday 27th August 2010
