Festive Lottery Winners Go Public
A handful of players who were lucky enough to win lottery prizes over the Christmas and New Year period have elected to go public with their success – a move that will undoubtedly inspire many more to have a go at winning a jackpot of their own. Three success stories have been released so far, and two of those relate to the special Millionaire Raffle draw that took place on Friday 23 December. As regular readers will be aware, that draw created 25 winners instead of just one, and each of those lottery winners landed a cool £1 million!
Frank and Judy Whitmore from Tockwith in Yorkshire won one of those £1,000,000 prizes. Judy bought their ticket only because the Millionaire Raffle game promised to create far more winners than usual, and it was also Judy who checked the results online on Christmas Eve. Their EuroMillions numbers hadn’t won anything but the couple did have a winning Millionaire Raffle number, and they broke the news of their massive windfall to their children on Christmas Day. The couple now plan to share some of the prize with family members, buy a new car and enjoy some walking holidays in the UK.
Anthony and Karen Shaw from Grange-over-Sands in Cumbria discovered their Millionaire Raffle win on Christmas Day itself. Karen had purchased a ticket for herself, her husband and their two adult children, Sara and Karl. When the family gathered around the tree on Christmas Day afternoon to unwrap presents, Karl unwrapped a ticket that had won £1 million. The family will be sharing the prize, and after Sara and Karl have got themselves on the property ladder, Anthony and Karen intend to treat themselves to an Alaskan cruise.
The third festive winner that we can tell you about today is 19-year-old Eloise Hutchinson, who lives in Colchester, Essex. Eloise bought herself a ticket for the Lotto game scheduled for New Year’s Eve because she thought that a big win would get 2012 off to a good start. Incredibly, all six of her numbers came up! There were three jackpot winners in the Lotto draw on 31 December and so her ticket landed a one-third share of £4 million, giving Eloise more than £1.3 million. “I can now buy a house and will replace my old Ford Fiesta,” Eloise said. “I would love to take a holiday in Jamaica but not until later in the year.”
We congratulate all of these festive winners and if we get news about any of the other big winners that have been created over the last couple of weeks we will of course let you know about them. In the meantime, why not buy yourself a few lottery tickets for the midweek EuroMillions and Lotto games and find out if some of this lottery-winning luck can rub off onto you too?
