Family Syndicate Wins Jackpot

Family Syndicate Wins Jackpot

A family syndicate of players has won a National Lottery jackpot worth almost £8 million. The family syndicate, which is based in Dartford, Kent, consists of five players, and the jackpot in question was won on Wednesday 8 July, 2009. The exact value of the jackpot was £7,985,672, so each member has effectively won a share worth around £1.59 million.

The winning Lotto ticket was bought by 69 year old Ted Newton on behalf of himself, his wife and their three adult children. Ted told a press conference that he didn’t normally play the Wednesday lottery game, but because it was a rollover jackpot he made an exception. The numbers used were generated using the Lucky Dip feature, and they certainly proved lucky for Ted and his family.

The lottery winner and his wife are already retired, but their children intend to carry on working, at least for the time being. Whether they decide to change their minds in the future is something that remains to be seen.

Lottery syndicates enjoy a good share of success, and it is nice to see a family syndicate hit a decent jackpot. If you would like to find out more about lottery syndicates and how you could start your own – perhaps with members of your own family – be sure to take a look at our Lottery Syndicate page.

In the meantime, there is plenty of lottery action to look forward to this week. The next Lotto jackpot on Wednesday 15 July will be worth around £2.4 million, and the EuroMillions game on Friday 17 July has a triple rollover jackpot of £49 million up for grabs. Both of those things make buying a few Lucky Dip tickets very worthwhile as far as we are concerned, and if you agree you can buy lottery tickets online.

We congratulate Ted Newton and his family and wish them the very best for their future as National Lottery millionaires. As for everyone else, we wish you the best of luck in the next few lottery draws – let’s hope that some of Ted’s lottery luck is catching and that you get the lottery results you need to win big!
