Euromillions Winners Chris and Colin Weir not 'flashy' people
Faces beaming, the Largs couple who won the £161 million Euromillions jackpot, told a press conference how they were ‘not flashy people.’ Chris and Colin Weir won the jackpot on Tuesday – their record-breaking win the biggest ever in Europe. Chris recounts what happened as she was checking the numbers as they started coming up – that incredible moment all lottery players dream they will encounter.
“I started circling the numbers but wasn't doing very well. Then on the fifth line, all the circles seemed to join up.”
The official telephone line for claims was closed, but Colin and Chris sat up all night and watched the sunrise, far too excited to sleep.
Colin said, “when we first realised we had won, it felt like a dream. Everything went into slow motion.”
Such humble words from the couple, who had suffered recent ill health problems and were unable to work.
“The next steps are going to be the most difficult ... with great wealth comes great responsibility,” added Colin wisely.
With their winnings, they intend to travel, seeing China, Australia, and the art galleries of Paris and Russia. They will also be buying their two children, both in their 20s, a house.
Meanwhile, both the Lotto and Euromillions have rolled over again. The Lotto jackpot is a £6.5 million rollover, and the Euromillions is creeping up once again, and is estimated at £18 million. Buy your tickets online now, the quick easy way, and never lose a ticket again.
And on behalf got everybody here at lottery.co.uk, we would like to say an enormous CONGRATULATIONS to Chris and Colin, and we hope the cash brings them happiness they deserve. Now go get champagne!
