EuroMillions Win Sets New Record
A new British record for the biggest ever National Lottery win by a single ticket has been set after one ticket matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Star number to win £84,451,321. The previous record was set in February when a £56 million EuroMillions jackpot was won by Nigel Page and Justine Laycock, so the new record is more than £18 million higher. No details about the lucky winner have yet been made available, so we don’t know if the winning ticket belongs to an individual or a lottery syndicate. What we do know is that the new UK record lottery payout of £84.45 million will take some beating!
The lottery results for the record-breaking EuroMillions draw on Friday 14 May were 01, 17, 31, 43 and 47, and the Lucky Star numbers were 02 and 03. Whilst the outright winner beat odds of 1 in 76,275,360 to land the jackpot, another 14 players beat odds of 1 in 5,448,240 to match five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars for a second-tier prize worth £242,957 each. 22 players matched five main numbers only to win £43,876 each. And of course, one player in the UK also won £1,000,000 by matching the Millionaire Raffle number, which was QPY542596.
Whether the person(s) who managed to win this record-breaking EuroMillions jackpot decides to go public with their win or keep their multi-million pound fortune a secret remains to be seen. In the meantime, the EuroMillions jackpot has been reset to its base value and will therefore be worth around £12 million this Friday 21 May.
Although it obviously created a great deal of excitement, EuroMillions wasn’t the only big lottery game that was played last weekend. The Lotto draw on Saturday offered a jackpot of £4,447,545, and whilst that figure was dwarfed by the £84.45 million EuroMillions prize, it came in very handy for three lucky winners who matched all six numbers required to share it. The lottery results for the Lotto game were 01, 04, 24, 26, 27 and 48, and the Bonus Ball was 28. Each of the three winning tickets is now worth £1,482,515.
Should the record-breaking EuroMillions winner or any of the Lotto winners choose to go public then we will of course bring you further details as we receive them. Until then, why not buy lottery tickets online and have a go at winning a life-changing jackpot for yourself this week? With £2.4 million available in the Lotto game this Wednesday and £12 million up for grabs in the EuroMillions game on Friday, there’s plenty to play for and the next big winner could be you!Monday 17th May 2010
