EuroMillions Landed in Portugal
A single ticket that had been sold in Portugal matched all seven numbers in the EuroMillions game last Friday to take down a jackpot worth €59,687,034, which would have been worth £46,514,105 had a UK player achieved the feat. Portugal has now had 59 jackpot winners from a total of 335 that have been created since the game began in 2004, and that gives the country an impressive strike rate of 17.6%. Only Spain and France have fared better, with 77 and 79 jackpot winners, respectively.
The EuroMillions results on Friday 18 March were 14, 19, 21, 24 and 49, with the numbers 05 and 11 appearing as the Lucky Stars. Whilst UK participants missed out on the jackpot itself, two UK tickets were among four that matched all five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars to win £284,508 each. That might not be quite as impressive as an eight-figure win, but it is still a pretty good return on a £2 entry, so well done to the lucky players concerned.
UK players fared less well at the third tier, because none of the 10 tickets that matched all five main numbers to win €51,736 each had been purchased in this country. Fortunately, there were plenty of UK success stories across the lower levels, with 15 of 62 fourth tier winners being bought by UK players to secure £3,059 each.
The total number of prizes won in Friday night’s EuroMillions game was 2,591,961, with UK entries landing 625,506 of them to share more than £3.57 million in prize money. As always, another UK player won £1 million by matching the Millionaire Maker code, and the lucky code this time was GFP567352.
We congratulate Portugal on its latest win, but at the same time we look forward to the next jackpot to be won by a player in this country. Those of you who fancy your chances can pursue a brand new jackpot worth around £11 million on Tuesday 22 March, and if you want to enter one or more of the most overdue numbers you should be considering the main numbers 45, 17, 11, 18 and 35 as well as the Lucky Star numbers 08 and 04.
Whilst we’re here, we should also flag up the fact that this Friday is a Mega Friday for EuroMillions players in the UK, and five players are guaranteed to win £1 million each plus an ‘American Dream’ trip of a lifetime to the USA. We’ll bring you more information about that later in the week, but in the meantime, good luck in the draw on Tuesday!Monday 21st March 2016
