Essex Residents Scoop £2 Million Postcode Lottery Prize

Essex Residents Scoop £2 Million Postcode Lottery Prize

Some neighbours in Essex have cause to celebrate after scooping a huge £2 million cash prize on the People’s Postcode Lottery. The winning postcode for August was CM14 5, meaning that ticket holding residents of Brentwood will share the impressive prize pool. The winners will discover how much they have won at a special celebration on August 30 at King George's Playing Fields, with the amounts dependant on the number of players in the winning area.

The last time Essex residents struck it lucky in the People’s Postcode Lottery was back in August last year. The winners included Tracie Barry, 43, and her neighbour David Carter, 57, both from Boreham in Chelmsford, who won £666,666 and £333,333 respectively after CM3 3GY was drawn as the winning postcode. These lucky winners were the biggest beneficiaries from the 24 prize winners in August 2013, although it is not yet known how many players will be eligible for a share the prize this time around.

Speaking about the upcoming event, Nicole Allan, Head of Events at People's Postcode Lottery, said, "We are delighted to be heading to Essex again to present players with some fantastic cheques. We were in Chelmsford last August and everyone had such a great time so I'm looking forward to going back [to Essex]."

As well as making lucky residents rich, the People's Postcode Lottery supports a number of good causes and has raised over £47.2 Million for charities based both at home and abroad. Among those to have benefited from the lottery are Dogs Trust,WaterAid, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Missing People, War Child, Riding for the Disabled Association and the National Trust. People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador Judie McCourt said, "The excitement will be really building up in Essex this week. I'm really looking forward to surprising players with their winnings and finding out how they will spend the cash!"

Further information on this UK lottery game can be found on the People’s Postcode Lottery page.
