Early Christmas for Lotto Winner

Early Christmas for Lotto Winner

Christmas came early for a Lotto player who managed to win a half-share of the £11.25 double rollover jackpot on Wednesday 1 December. Sue Stebbings, who works as a checkout supervisor for Asda, decided to check her numbers on Teletext as she got ready for her early shift on Thursday morning. The lottery results for the draw on Wednesday were 20, 21, 22, 24, 27 and 34, and the Bonus Ball was 29, but Sue – who lives in Lowestoft – didn’t need the Bonus Ball to change her life because she already had all six main numbers!

“I couldn’t believe it – I kept looking at the TV screen and my ticket and seeing the same six numbers but I thought I must have made a mistake,” Sue said. “I didn’t trust my eyes as it was only 5.45am so I woke up my husband and then our children so they could check I wasn’t seeing things!”

Sue wasn’t seeing things – she really had won a half share of the Lotto double rollover jackpot to become £5,629,964 richer. Of course, it takes time for that kind of realisation to sink in. “Even after they double checked, I was still in shock,” Sue said. “I went into work and told my boss but I couldn’t concentrate so he sent me home a couple of hours later!”

Sue and her husband Richard have two children aged 20 and 17, and they are now planning to use some of their cash to make Christmas 2010 extra special. Paying off the mortgage, buying new cars and a fishing boat are also on the agenda.

“Richard loves to go sea-fishing with our son off the coast but we haven’t got a boat so I’d like to get them a proper fishing boat,” Sue said. “We’ll also sort both the children out with cars and upgrade our car.

“We share a Ford Focus at the moment but I’d like a BMW 4x4. Richard can’t decide between a sports car and something more practical so we’ll probably get one each!”

We congratulate Sue and Richard and wish them well for the future. And for those of you who would like to have a go at winning your own lottery fortune in time for Christmas, buy lottery tickets online for the Lotto game this Wednesday and the EuroMillions game on Friday, and good luck!
