Driving Instructor Lands Lotto Jackpot

Driving Instructor Lands Lotto Jackpot

A driving instructor from Yeadon in West Yorkshire landed a half-share of the £3.92 million jackpot in the Lotto game on Saturday 12 November. Steve Poole, who is married to Gwen, sent Tom, one of his four adult sons, to buy a lottery ticket because he’d forgotten to do so himself. Tom bought the ticket and all six of the selected numbers came up, but Steve didn’t actually get to see the draw, and he didn’t find out about the win until Sunday evening. The Lotto results for the draw last Saturday were 06, 12, 13, 28, 33 and 38.

Although Steve didn’t see the draw take place, Tom and his brother Dave watched it on television, and Tom commented that the numbers looked familiar. Dave laughed at that comment and the rest of the night passed without event. Then, the next morning, Dave went on holiday, and a few hours later Tom checked their entry and discovered that the numbers he had seen the night before really were familiar!

Steve explained what happened next: “Tom came in on Sunday night, told Gwen and I to sit down and then passed us the ticket,” he said. “We looked at it and then the results he had put on the TV. The amount was under the numbers, we were all a bit numb to be honest.”

Because Dave had already gone on holiday he had no idea that his father had won a massive £1,963,927, meaning that Tom’s comment the previous night had been spot on.

Dave is a keen paragliding enthusiast, and although he is used to climbing hills so that he can launch his current glider manually, he now plans to buy himself a paramotor and wing which will enable him to launch from flatland just as easily – and with much less wear and tear on his legs! Other plans for the money include travelling in Canada and treating his sons.

We congratulate the Poole family and wish Steve, Gwen and their sons the very best for the future. And for all other lottery players who fancy landing a jackpot of their own, there is a EuroMillions jackpot of around £12 million to play for this evening (Friday 18 November). Play online and good luck with your numbers!
