Double Lotto Win!

A National Lottery player from Southwell is celebrating a double Lotto win that gave him a total payout of £130,967. Daniel Stretton, who is a retired printer, won prizes in both the main Lotto game and in the Lotto HotPicks game on Wednesday 1 April, 2009.
Daniel checked his lottery results on the morning of Thursday 2 April and had the surprise of his life. “I immediately recognised the numbers because they are the birthdays of some of the ladies at my church,” he said. “I double checked the tickets and tried to remain calm but I have never had much money so ended up just jumping for joy before ringing friends and family to tell them the good news.”
Daniel tried to call his son Alexai who works as a tennis coach in Australia, but he ended up having to leave a message instead of sharing the good news directly. “I had to leave a message with Alexei because he wasn’t teaching at his normal location – the Olympic Stadium in Sydney,” Daniel explained. “He was away for a week working on Fraser Island. We spoke a few days later and he’s over the moon.”
Alexai’s love of tennis is something that Daniel shares, and he divides much of his time between playing and participating as an active member of his local church. “I try to play as much tennis as I can in amongst my duties at the church,” he said. “I am truly blessed with this win and I hope it won’t be the last. I prayed for a win and I believe the Jackpot still has my name on it!”
Daniel now plans to treat the ladies at church who inspired his choice of lottery numbers. He also intends to replace his Ford Ka with a new one. “I’m going to treat the ladies to a nice meal at a restaurant of their choice,” Daniel said. “It will all be on me.”Published: Wednesday 15th April 2009
