Colchester Lotto Jackpot Unclaimed
Updated: Monday 3rd October 2016
A Lotto jackpot worth £8.1 million was won on Wednesday 14th September by a ticket which had been purchased in Colchester, Essex, but the lucky owner still hasn’t come forward to claim their prize. Lottery organisers are now urging everyone who has bought a ticket in that area in recent weeks to double check their numbers so that they don’t risk missing out on the multi-million-pound fortune.
The main numbers drawn in the Lotto game on the 14th of September were 16, 23, 35, 42, 44 and 58 with Bonus Ball 28, and the lucky winner had matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the 'must be won' draw. The ticket holder now has until the 13th of March 2017, to claim their prize. That might sound like a long way off, and it is in fact 180 days from the date of the winning draw, but it has also been observed that the likelihood of a prize being claimed tends to reduce over time, so organisers are very keen to see this £8.1 million jackpot go to its rightful owner as soon as possible.
Players are being advised to search for any old tickets that they might have tucked away in their purses, wallets, coat pockets, glove compartments and any ‘secret’ hiding places that they use, and to check those tickets again to make sure that they don’t have the winner. Those of you who want to have your numbers checked automatically should feel free to use our Lotto Checker, which will confirm exactly how they have fared in every draw over the last six months.
It is likely that the winner of the £8.1 million jackpot isn’t yet aware of their success, but it could also be the case that they are simply taking their time coming forward for some reason. Just a few months ago, it emerged that a couple who won a Lotto jackpot of £14.6 million actually hid their winning ticket before setting off for a two-week holiday in Florida, and only claimed the prize on their return, so perhaps the £8.1 million winner has done something similar. Or, perhaps the lucky winner was on holiday at the time of the draw and will only realise that they have won when they return.
Hopefully we won’t have to wait for too much longer for the Colchester winner to claim their prize. In the meantime, do double-check any and all tickets that you have lying around, because there are several lottery prizes still unclaimed from draws that have taken place over the last few months, and one of them just might be yours!Published: Monday 3rd October 2016
