British Ticket Wins EuroMillions
Updated: Friday 10th October 2014
A lottery ticket bought by a player in Britain has overcome odds of 1 in 76,275,360 to win the latest EuroMillions double rollover jackpot worth £39,754,555. This is the third largest National Lottery prize ever won in the UK, and although no details of the winner have officially been released, it is widely rumoured that the ticket belongs to a woman who came forward on Sunday 28 March to start the claims procedure. If that rumour turns out to be accurate then one very lucky lady has over 39.7 million reasons to celebrate this week and probably for years to come!
The lottery results that made it happen for the lucky winner on Friday 26 March were 06, 16, 18, 37 and 43, with 02 and 06 drawn as the Lucky Stars. Another EuroMillions player in the UK won £1,000,000 and millionaire status thanks to the Millionaire Raffle number, which was HLV958484.
Six EuroMillions players matched all five main numbers and one Lucky Star to win a second-tier prize of £499,861 each. A dozen more matched the five main numbers only to win a third-tier prize of £59,117 each.
The last few months have been fantastic for British EuroMillions players. In November 2009, Lee and Sam Scadding won a jackpot worth £45.5 million. Then George Sturt won £26.1 million in January 2010. And last month Nigel Page and Justine Laycock became Britain’s biggest lottery winners of all time by winning a half-share of a £112 million EuroMillions jackpot.
Although the latest EuroMillions win will no doubt be the centre of attention for the next few weeks, the Lotto game on Saturday 27 March also deserves a mention. Three tickets matched the numbers 06, 11, 15, 32, 38 and 42 to win an equal share of a £4.5 million jackpot. Again, no further details about the winners are available at the time of writing, but watch this space and we will bring you further news in due course.
We congratulate everyone who won a prize playing the EuroMillions and Lotto games last weekend and wish them a very happy time spending their new-found wealth! As for the rest of us, there is a £2.4 million jackpot to play for in the Lotto draw this Wednesday 31 March and a £13 million jackpot in the EuroMillions game this Friday 02 April.
