Brit Wins EuroMillions!
Updated: Tuesday 12th April 2016
A British lottery player won a half-share of the massive £50 million EuroMillions jackpot on Friday 12 June, 2009. The winner is 73 year old Brian Caswell from Greater Manchester, and he won £24,951,269. The other winning ticket was bought in Ireland, so when all is said and done our own corner of the world did pretty well!
Ten other EuroMillions players matched five main numbers and just one of the two Lucky Star numbers to win around £314,326 each. Eight more players matched the five main numbers only and still managed to win £111,500, so the lottery results this week have been kind to quite a few people.
The £50 million EuroMillions jackpot had reached that size thanks to three previous rollovers. Now that the top prize has been won, the jackpot has been reset to its minimum value of €15 million (£12 million). That’s four times less than last Friday’s jackpot, but still well worth winning, so if you fancy your chances it makes sense to buy lottery tickets online before you forget!
On Saturday 13 June, the UK Lotto jackpot was also won. The jackpot was worth £4,781,662 and two players matched the six main numbers to win £2,390,831 each. Six more players matched five main numbers and the bonus ball and won £245,213 each as a result. All of this means that the jackpot for the next Lotto draw on Wednesday 17 June, 2009 has also been reset, and will be worth around £2.4 million.
Of course, you don’t have to wait until Wednesday to try and win yourself a fortune. You can play a wide variety of lottery instant win games and enjoy everything from scratchcards and slots to traditional casino games. Our favourite instant win game right now is the Bring Home the Bacon progressive slot, which has a current jackpot worth more than £10,000!
Whether you choose to play instant win games, buy tickets for EuroMillions and Lotto or do all of the above, we wish you the best of luck. And don’t forget, if you happen to win big, we want to hear about it so that we can congratulate you!Published: Monday 15th June 2009
