Bracknell Lotto Winner

A Lucky Dip Lotto ticket proved very lucky for a HGV driver from Bracknell. Terry Butler, who is 41 and drives for Waitrose, matched five main numbers and the bonus ball to scoop £101,823 on Saturday 14 February, 2009. However, he didn’t realise he had won until two weeks later!
Terry normally buys his National Lottery tickets and lets them stack up, going through them once in a while to see if any of them have been successful. He finally got around to checking his tickets at the same time as the lottery organisers announced that there was an unclaimed lottery prize belonging to someone who had bought their ticket in the Bracknell Forest area.
“I don’t know why, but I have always checked my Lotto tickets in bulk, so it was a complete shock when I discovered I was sitting on a small fortune without even knowing it,” Terry said. “I was just about to go out for lunch with my wife when I checked the numbers online. I could not believe my eyes; neither could my wife! After I had calmed down, I called my brother to spread the news and then hid the ticket in our bedroom. We haven’t celebrated the win fully yet, but plan to have a nice meal with close family and friends soon. We are absolutely over the moon.”
Terry and his wife Michelle had already booked their main holiday for 2009, and the Lotto windfall will pay for that trip to Turkey. They also intend to take their children and foster children to Disneyland Florida in 2010 and to treat Terry’s brother.
Terry has played the Lotto from the very beginning, and buys two lines for each draw – one is his own set of regular numbers and the other is a Lucky Dip entry.Published: Monday 16th March 2009
