Bonus Ball Win for Charity Syndicate

Bonus Ball Win for Charity Syndicate

A syndicate of workers and volunteers at a Barnado’s charity shop in Lowestoft is celebrating after winning £129,473 by matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the Lotto game on Saturday 17 September. The syndicate, which calls itself the Barnado’s Lowestoft Team, has 22 members who play a total of 31 lines, so the prize is worth £4,176 for every line played, which isn’t bad at all. The Lotto results for Saturday 17 September were 02, 03, 06, 41, 44 and 45, and the Bonus Ball was 10.

Angie Garrod, who manages the Barnado’s shop, was busy decorating with her partner Ray on Saturday night when she received a phone call from her deputy, Brenda Skitterall. Brenda told Angie that the syndicate had won a second-tier prize, but like any Lotto winner, Angie had to confirm the facts for herself.

“I was knee high in paint brushes and hadn’t seen the winning numbers when Brenda called,” Angie said. “I checked the numbers on Teletext and then drove to the shop as the week’s tickets are always kept in its safe. I doubled checked the numbers and Brenda was right, we’d got five numbers and the Bonus Ball.”

Having retrieved and checked the winning ticket, Angie returned home to make her claim. She called the number on the reverse of her ticket and the lottery operators confirmed the win. Since their success had now been officially confirmed Angie didn’t hesitate to start calling syndicate members to share the good news, but with so many members the task took a while – into the early hours of Sunday morning, in fact.

The syndicate members are now thinking about how to spend their cash. “We are still in shock and haven’t decided what to do with the money,” Angie said. “Holidays and home DIY are at the top of most people’s list. It isn’t a life-changing amount but it’s made 22 people very happy.”

Readers who fancy making their own Lotto dreams come true can buy tickets for tonight’s game which will offer a jackpot of around £2.2 million. And if that jackpot isn’t big enough for you, there will be a triple rollover jackpot of around £41 million to play for in the EuroMillions game this Friday. Enjoy the games and good luck!
