Bishop Auckland Lotto
A couple from Bishop Auckland are celebrating a UK Lotto jackpot win worth £4,493,783 after matching all six numbers on Saturday 20 September, 2008. Gary and Ann Henry, who have been running a snack bar in a local industrial estate for the past eleven years, are now planning to hand their business over to two of their six adult children.
“We just can’t believe it has happened to us!” Gary said. “It’s really hard to take in. Everyone has been so supportive and the customers have been really pleased for us. Our staff have been brilliant too - they are working hard to cover our shifts at the moment and I am sure we will have to put in a few more hours before we can finally put our feet up.”
Winning the lottery jackpot is always shocking, but when someone has previously predicted that you would win, it’s even more so, as Ann explained: “It was a really wet day when a customer came in completely soaked through – she was literally dripping on the floor. I felt sorry for her so I gave her a cup of tea and an egg sandwich on the house to warm her up.
“We got chatting and she told me she was a gypsy and could predict the future,” Ann continued. “She told me a great deal about my family which was all true... then she said I would win the lottery. She said the win would be soon, it would begin with a ‘4’ but couldn’t tell me how many zero’s there would be. She said she would be back at Christmas to see what has happened but amazingly everything she said has already come true.”
The Henrys have wanted to build their own home for years, and now that they have £4.5 million in the bank that’s exactly what they intend to do. They also plan to enjoy a luxury cruise and take some of their friends along to share the experience.Monday 29th September 2008
