Ayrshire Man Scores Lotto Win

Ayrshire Man Scores Lotto Win

An Ayrshire man who used to play for Kilmarnock Football Club enjoyed success with a certain Bonus Ball when he matched it alongside five main numbers to score a Lotto win worth £130,450 on Saturday 4 September. Robert Neil, who is 60 years old and now runs his own ironmongery business in Galston, bought his lucky lottery ticket from his local Co-op store. The lottery results that helped Robert and his wife Isobel to secure the second-tier Lotto prize were 16, 19, 26, 27, 41 and 47, and the Bonus Ball was 34. As Robert explains, the win transformed an otherwise quiet night into something special...

“I was feeling pretty rubbish over the weekend with a chest infection, so by 9.30pm on the Saturday night we were both sitting in our PJ’s after a quiet meal, enjoying a glass of milk and a Bounty bar,” he explained. “I turned on Teletext to check my numbers and discovered we’d won.”

Robert and Isobel have three adult sons and seven grandchildren, and they turned to one of their sons to confirm that they really were lottery winners. When their son checked and said that the win was every bit as real as they had initially assumed, the couple made their formal claim with the lottery organisers.

“It’s still sinking in that we’ve actually won,” Isobel said. “We haven’t decided what we are going to do yet but we’ve got a holiday booked to Turkey later in the year so we’ll take some time to think about it before making any decisions. We’ll certainly be giving the children something and I’d love to go on a shopping spree but above all it just sets us up comfortably for the future.”

As for Robert, he has a few plans all of his own, and it’s not surprising that they concern his favourite game. “Football is in my blood so maybe I’ll spend more time watching the game both here and abroad,” he said.

The Lotto jackpot this Wednesday 15 September will be worth an estimated £2.4 million, and the EuroMillions jackpot on Friday will be worth around £12 million. Buy lottery tickets online today and you just might score your own big win this week!
