Angus Syndicate Wins Lotto Jackpot

Angus Syndicate Wins Lotto Jackpot

A lottery syndicate of 25 workers at a haulage company in Angus matched all six Lotto numbers on Wednesday 24 February to win the jackpot. There were three winning tickets in total last Wednesday, so the £2.21 million jackpot was split equally, giving the syndicate a prize of £739,121. With 25 members in the syndicate, each one now has £29,564 to spend on whatever they like. The oldest member of the syndicate is company boss, David Murray, who is 65, and the youngest member is apprentice mechanic Shannon Jamieson, who is just 16.

The syndicate is led by Steven Fletcher, who was keen to check the syndicate ticket on Thursday morning, but it was locked away securely in a desk drawer. Waiting for company director (and David’s wife) Margaret to come and unlock the drawer was a serious exercise in patience for Steven, but when the drawer was opened he acted quickly – racing to the local Spar store to confirm the numbers. The lottery results for Wednesday 24 February were 03, 11, 18, 23, 38 and 49, and the syndicate had matched all six.

“The syndicate has been going for six years,” Steven explained, “but this is the first time we’ve won anything significant. Some of the drivers who are out on jobs, don’t believe us yet, they think we are winding them up.”

Having company boss David in the syndicate meant that the celebrations at the haulage firm could start straight away. “The whole office erupted yesterday when we found out and it’s fair to say that not much work was done,” Steven continued. “But when the boss is in on the fun it doesn’t matter.”

After the initial celebration, the syndicate members quite naturally started thinking about how to use their winnings.

“We’ve been planning what we are going to spend the money on,” Steven said. “I’m hoping to take my wife and kids on a trip to Disney World Florida and others are talking about major home improvements and flash new cars. David wants a new motorbike.”

We congratulate the Angus syndicate on their midweek Lotto win, and remind readers that the midweek Lotto game this Wednesday 3 March has an estimated jackpot of £2.4 million. Buy lottery tickets online today and you too could be celebrating a jackpot win by the end of the week!
