2011 Christmas Lottery Round-Up

2011 Christmas Lottery Round-Up
Updated: Wednesday 23rd April 2014

The 2011 Christmas holiday weekend went with a very definite bang as the Millionaire Raffle game created 25 winners of £1 million each and both the Lotto and Health Lottery draws paid out their top prize offerings. The EuroMillions jackpot was much less cooperative and has therefore rolled over to the next draw, but that means we now have a jackpot of around £30 million to play for in the EuroMillions game this Tuesday 27 December. In other words, the run-up to New Years Day this Sunday could yet prove just as exciting as the run-up to Christmas!

The EuroMillions results on Friday 23 December were 07, 21, 22, 24 and 28, and the Lucky Star numbers were 01 and 11. Although no player won the jackpot, there were more than 4.3 million non-jackpot prizes landed by winning tickets and four of those tickets (two purchased in the UK) won £413,085 each by matching the five main numbers along with one Lucky Star.

For obvious reasons, EuroMillions players in the UK were just as enthusiastic about the special Millionaire Raffle draw as they were about the main EuroMillions game. The Millionaire Raffle draw produced 25 winning raffle numbers and the 25 tickets bearing those numbers are now worth £1 million each. The winning numbers are published in full on our EuroMillions results page for Friday’s draw.

On Saturday 24 December, the Lotto results were 01, 15, 23, 32, 36 and 43, with the number 19 being drawn as the Bonus Ball. Two tickets matched all of those numbers and shared the £7.64 million jackpot equally, giving each winning ticket a value of £3,823,121. Over 560,000 tickets won a prize of some sort, and there were seven that won a prize of £228,891 each at the second-tier prize level.

The Health Lottery draw on Saturday saw one ticket win a special £200,000 top prize by matching all five winning numbers – 06, 30, 32, 43 and 48. Another 9,000 tickets won prizes of £500 or £50 each by matching four or three of the numbers, respectively.

Whilst we are on the subject of Christmas lottery results, we should of course mention the annual El Gordo draw that took place in Spain on 22 December. As always, the value of prizes paid out by this famous game was colossal – almost £2 billion was won in total – but the top prize of around £600 million was landed by 1,800 residents of Granen, a village in Spain. There are only 2,100 residents in that village, so the vast majority of people there are celebrating after buying a share of the winning El Gordo ticket. For those of you who haven’t got a calculator handy, each of the winning residents will now be around £334,000 richer.

That just about completes our Christmas lottery round-up for 2011, and so our congratulations go out to everyone who won a prize, large or small. For those of you who didn’t win a lottery prize over the festive period, buy lottery tickets online today and you just might land yourself the £30 million double rollover jackpot in the EuroMillions game this Tuesday 27 December! Good luck!
