Superenalotto

superenalottoSuperEnalotto has been extremely popular in Italy ever since it was first launched in 1997 to replace the previous Enalotto lottery game, but now that people can play lottery games online SuperEnalotto is also attracting global interest. The main reason for that is because SuperEnalotto offers massive jackpots of eight figures or bigger on a fairly regular basis. The large jackpots in this case are due to the fact that players have to correctly match 6 main numbers from the range 1 to 90, and the odds of doing that are rather slim at just 1 in 622,614,630.

Fortunately you don’t have to win the SuperEnalotto jackpot outright to profit from the game because there are five prize divisions in all, and an additional ‘Jolly’ number is drawn to give players a chance of winning the second division prize. The numbers required to win a prize on each division, and the odds of success in each case, are as follows:

For an additional fee, SuperEnalotto players can also select a ‘SuperStar’ number from the range 1 to 90. The winning SuperStar number is drawn by a separate lottery machine and if a SuperEnalotto player matches this as well as 3, 4 or 5 main SuperEnalotto numbers, their prize is multiplied. If a player gets the SuperStar number and 0, 1 or 2 SuperEnalotto main numbers then they win a consolation prize that wouldn’t have been possible without the SuperStar.

SuperEnalotto draws are held three times each week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The slim odds of winning a SuperEnalotto jackpot outright make jackpot rollovers very common, and that has spawned plenty of massive wins over the last dozen years or so. The biggest ever SuperEnalotto jackpot was won on Saturday 29 August 2009 when a single ticket matched all six main numbers to win €146.9 million. That beat the previous SuperEnalotto record of €100.7 million that had been set on Thursday 23 October 2008.

Superenalotto and other World Lotteries

When it comes to creating extraordinarily large jackpots Italy’s Superenalotto is up there with the likes of Euromillions, Powerball and Megamillions! Rollovers are frequent for the Superenalotto draws and attract much attention around the globe. Equally impress are the prizes offered by the Megamillions and Powerball draws in the US and a change in 2010 saw states being able to offer lotteries rather than just one or the other.
