The rollover Lotto jackpot on Wednesday 8 February had a final value of £7,088,661 and three tickets matched the six main numbers required to win it, so each of those tickets is now worth £2,362,887. That’s an excellent outcome for the winners involved, though we don’t yet know whether or not they are all aware of their success, so be sure to take a moment to check your own tickets just in case you have won a big prize and haven’t realised it. This win comes less than three weeks after Gareth and Catherine Bull of Mansfield won a EuroMillions jackpot worth £40.62 million, so it looks like 2012 has got off to the best possible start for EuroMillions players in the UK. What can we glean about Health Lottery sales and prizes from the first week's Health Lottery results?

Well, if we left it to the Health Lottery, very little. All they’ve officially said is that there were two jackpot winners and that they paid out “over 12,000” winners. When Lottery.co.uk called the helpline we were told there were more than 500 winners of £500 and that they would put the numbers of winners on their website “in the near future”, we are still waiting. We are also still waiting on a response to our query about independent auditing of the draw itself and the number of winners. No information on Health Lottery sales are offered anywhere, though some retailers are reporting disappointing sales.

The official operator of National Lottery games in the UK has announced that it will be closing its ‘Results Text Alert Service’ at midnight this Friday 6 May, 2011.
