Super Chance Draw Creates First Big Set For Life Winners

Super Chance Draw Creates First Big Set For Life Winners

Two lucky Set For Life players have been congratulated after becoming the first winners of the game’s top prize. The historic moment came in last night’s Super Chance draw, which gave ticket holders better odds of winning.

Set For Life offers a grand prize of £10,000 a month for 30 years. You normally have to match all five main numbers and the Life Ball to land this jackpot, but in a Super Chance draw the same prize is also available for matching the five main numbers without the Life Ball.

The two big winners on Thursday 23rd May matched the numbers 15, 21, 31, 44 and 45. They missed out on the Life Ball of 3 and in a regular draw they would have won £10,000 a month for just a year. Instead, they are ‘set for life’ and will receive £3.6 million each over the next three decades.

‘Tick Off Their Bucket List Dreams’

Speaking after the draw, the National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor Andy Carter said: “Tonight's Set For Life Super Chance draw is one to remember as we crown the very first top prize winners - two of them, in fact, who have each won an incredible £10,000 a month, every month for 30 years.

“They can live the good life with an extra £10,000 in the bank month after month to tick off their bucket list dreams. If you were in with a chance, check your numbers to see if you are set for life.”

Set For Life launched in March as the UK’s first annuity lottery, giving players an alternative type of game to those that offer big one-off jackpots. The idea of winning a guaranteed income for 30 years was designed to attract new players, and National Lottery bosses have declared themselves satisfied with the early progress of the game.

However, after two months without a winner of the top prize, a Super Chance draw was scheduled to ramp up the excitement. The odds of winning the top prize were therefore improved by ten times, and another Super Chance draw would have been held next time if there had been no winners in either of the top two tiers.

More About Set For Life

Set For Life draws take place on Monday and Thursday evenings at 8:00pm, with Super Chance draws being held from time to time. There are eight ways to win in every draw, from matching two main numbers upwards. All the prizes are fixed amounts, although the top prize can be subject to capping in very rare circumstances when there are more winners than expected.

You must select five main numbers between 1 and 47 to play Set For Life, plus one Life Ball from 1 to 10. It costs £1.50 per line, and the odds of winning the top prize are better than they are for either Lotto or EuroMillions, even when there is not a Super Chance draw.
