St Patrick's Day Winners
St Patrick's Day 2006 was a winning one for Laura and Charles Ray
from Oklahoma when they became the Oklahoma Lottery's first millionaires.
They won on a Powerball Power Play game and are in the record books
as the winners of the largest single prize in Oklahoma's lottery
history. Initially they thought they had won $100,000 but because
the game has a Power Play multiplier their win of $1million was
a lot more. All profits from the Oklahoma Lottery are used to support
improvements and enhancements for educational purposes at all levels
from Pre-Kindergarten to higher education.
Also, an as-yet unknown EuroMillions lottery winner
who bought their ticket in Cong, Ireland, had not come forward to
claim their prize worth Euros828,820 won on the St Patrick's' day
draw, March 17. The winning €2 ticket was sold in O'Connor's Spar
food shop only hours before the draw and locals are curious as to
winner's identity. It is possible that the buyer was a tourist calling
in over the celebration weekend, but the win would be the shop's
first big win in years after a local man scooped some cash in the
National Lottery nearly 15 years ago.
