Redundancy Paved with Gold
There is probably only one way to recover from being made redundant,
and that’s to find out you’ve just won over £1
million. A syndicate of four road maintenance workers from King’s
Lynn found out last month that they would be made redundant in the
near future, but syndicate leader David Brock still bought their
lottery ticket for 14 March. Using a Lucky Dip they managed to select
the winning numbers of 6,21,24,38,39 and 48. The jackpot that night
was £8.4 million, shared between two tickets of which this
syndicate had one, so their share of £4.2 million is shared
four ways still giving them over £1 million each.
The syndicate checked their ticket in the local supermarket where
they found out they were jackpot winners, and so now the despair
of losing jobs they enjoyed, has turned to happiness as they start
to reorganise their lives. David is planning a trip down under to
New Zealand and Australia where he has relatives, and then a new
house and car and fellow syndicate member Trevor Kimber, who checked
the ticket, knows which new VW car he’d like.
