An Italian news agency is reporting that lottery addicts are playing numbers related to Pope John Paul II. The agency, AGICOS, said, "Since this morning there are many, many bets on the numbers of the Pope.

The most popular numbers are 21 and 37, corresponding to the time of death [reported at 21:37 local time], the number 2 after the day of the Pope's death on April 2, and 84 being his age at death." Italians spent over 23 billion euros on betting games during 2004. - 5/4/05
