The National Lottery Awards finalists for 2009 have been confirmed and now the public has until midday on Friday 14 August to vote for their favourite. There are 21 projects in this final round and these are divided into seven groups of three, according to type. The winner of each group will receive a prize of £2,000 for their project and also benefit from all the publicity that their participation in the lottery awards has generated.
The National Lottery Awards have been running for six years now, and provide an excellent stage on which to showcase the projects and individuals that are putting lottery money to good use. The seven project categories are: Best Arts Project, Best Education Project, Best Environment Project, Best Health Project, Best Heritage Project, Best Sports Project and Best Voluntary/Charity Project.
Television presenter Jackie Brambles, who you may have previously seen hosting the ITV daytime television show Loose Women, has been supporting the National Lottery Awards 2009. Jackie has urged members of the public to do their bit by voting for their favourite projects.
“Each year The National Lottery Awards recognise the incredible impact that Lottery-funded projects have on people and communities across the UK,” Jackie said. “Lottery players raise £25 million every week for Good Causes and later on this year we’ll be marking 15 years since the Lottery began – celebrating the huge difference that Lottery funding has made to people all over the UK. All of the finalists are doing great work in their local community and have done so well to reach the final of the Awards. Please take the time to support your favourite – every vote really does make a difference!”
The seven winning projects will be announced live on Saturday 5 September, 2009, on a special lottery television show. The National Lottery: Big 7 will be broadcast on BBC One, so be sure to mark the date in your diary so that you don’t risk missing the results.
In the meantime, be sure to cast your vote and don’t forget that every time you buy lottery tickets online you are continuing to do your bit not only for the National Lottery Award contenders but for the widest possible variety of Good Causes.
