Lucky to Live here
Some places are considered to be more lucky than others, but in
Canada the small town of Pincher Creek has just announced its third
recent big lottery jackpot winner. Shirley Anderson collected a
cheque for $1million from the Alberta Lottery Fund on March 15 2006.
Her win came from a free ticket she had won on a previous $10 “Super
Set For Life” ticket. Scratching away the silver lining revealed
the game's second highest prize, $1 million. Her win follows in
the footsteps of Lori Kunkat, a nurse, who won $2 million in February
2006 and Doug McClain who won $10 million in April 2005. A spokesperson
for the Western Canada Lottery Corporation did say it was unusual
for such a small town to have so many big winners.
Meanwhile in Ireland two people holding winning Lotto tickets bought
in the same town have yet to claim their prizes. They are worth
having at Euros225,000 and were bought at the Spar Shop in the village
of Kinlough for the March 18 2006 draw. There were six winners overall,
two of whom have claimed their prizes, and come from Dublin.
