The owner of a hairdressing salon in Hereford is looking forward to spending more time on her hobbies now that she has won a share of a Lotto jackpot worth £1,182,714. Susan Herdman matched all six Lotto number on Saturday 16 January. The jackpot for that draw was worth £5.9 million, but there were five jackpot winners in total, so each one received a little over £1.18 million. Not that Susan is complaining. After all, even after sharing the spoils with four other winners, she still managed to emerge from the game as a brand new lottery millionaire!

Two Tickets Share Lotto Jackpot
Two tickets matched all six Lotto numbers on Saturday 30 January to share the £4.24 million jackpot. To be more precise, each winning ticket is now worth £2,122,675, although it is not known at this stage who the owners of those tickets are, whether they are individuals or syndicates, or even if they have yet come forward to formally claim their prize. As far as the EuroMillions lottery draw on Friday 29 January is concerned, one ticket matched all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars to win the entire jackpot of £25.4 million.

EuroMillions Birthday Mega Jackpot
EuroMillions lottery organisers have announced that there will be a special Mega Jackpot game on Friday 5 February, 2010, and that the jackpot itself will be worth £85 million. The first ever EuroMillions draw took place on Friday 13 February, 2004, so it looks like this Mega Jackpot is something of a birthday celebration, and with £85 million up for grabs it is one that no self-respecting lottery player will want to miss. Buy yourself a few extra tickets to mark the occasion and you’ll automatically be giving yourself more chance of winning the Millionaire Raffle game too!

Lucky Lottery Postcodes
National Lottery organisers in the UK have revealed the ten luckiest areas to live in as far as major lottery wins are concerned. Areas have been analysed by postcode to determine how many entries in each area win major prizes, compared with the adult player population of that same area. This approach provides a fair method of comparing different areas despite the fact that some postcodes obviously have much bigger populations than others. Nationally, 1 in 7,366 of the player population in the UK has won a share of a lottery jackpot, so how did the top ten postcodes perform against that benchmark?

Bank Workers Win Lottery Bonus
A syndicate of bank workers at the Alliance and Leicester in Bootle, Liverpool, is celebrating after matching five main Lotto numbers and the bonus ball to win £132,388. The win occurred on Saturday 2 January, and as there are twelve players in the syndicate, each one is entitled to a ‘bonus’ payout worth £11,032. In actuality, the syndicate members have agreed to take £11,000 each and use the remaining £388 to fund more lottery entries in the future – which is just the kind of prudent decision that might be expected of people who work for a bank!

Sturt Family Celebrates Jackpot Win
The British winners of the EuroMillions triple rollover jackpot last Friday 15 January have decided to go public with their good news. The Sturt family syndicate of four bought one of two jackpot-winning tickets to land an incredible £26.15 million. This is the fourth biggest jackpot win in National Lottery history, and if the four Sturt family members share the prize equally they will each get more than £6.53 million. The syndicate is based in Dorking and consists of 75 year old George Sturt and his three adult children, Colin, Gary and Teresa. Another eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren ensure that any celebratory parties will be very well attended!

Newcastle Syndicate Lotto Win
A syndicate of six Lotto players in Newcastle is still celebrating after winning a double rollover jackpot worth £10,257,210 on Wednesday 30 December, 2009. We can’t think of a better way to end one year and see in a brand new one than with a multi-million pound lottery win, and we’re betting that the syndicate felt exactly the same way. Now that the New Year festivities are over details of the lucky syndicate have been released and we can tell you that the winning Lotto ticket was purchased using money from a much smaller EuroMillions win the previous week.

UK Ticket Wins EuroMillions
A EuroMillions ticket bought in the UK was one of two to match the five main numbers and both Lucky Stars in the draw for the triple rollover jackpot on Friday 15 January. The jackpot was worth £52.3 million, so each ticket-holder (the other winner purchased their ticket in France) will pick up a half share worth £26.15 million. That makes this latest British win the fourth biggest in the history of the National Lottery, and follows the £45.5 million EuroMillions jackpot win by Les and Sam Scadding in November 2008.
