Golfer Wins Millions
A keen golfer from Dundee had millions of
reasons to shout "Four!" when he matched
all six numbers in the Lotto draw on Saturday
4 August and won the entire jackpot worth £4,771,402.
The winning numbers were 12, 23, 25, 26, 34
and 49.
Mark Page, who lives with his partner Carol
and their children Lisa and Graham, bought his
winning ticket from a local Co-op store, and
unlike many lottery winners who only discover
their good fortune a day or two after the event,
Mark found out about his win on the same evening
as the draw itself.
"We were watching TV on Saturday night
when the adverts came on so I decided to check
my numbers," Mark said. "I took my
ticket and checked the numbers on Teletext.
When I saw that we had all six, I didn't know
what to do, so I looked at them again on Ceefax
too! I couldn't believe it. To be honest I am
still in shock. I can't wait to start my new
life on the fairways and become a scratch golfer."
Mark works as a radio technician, and has lived
in Scotland ever since he moved there when working
for the RAF. After he had discovered that his
ticket had won the jackpot, he kept it safe
by placing it a vase on the mantelpiece. When
the time came for him to be presented with his
cheque for over £4.7 million, the event
took place at the most appropriate venue for
a golf enthusiast living in Scotland - at the
prestigious St Andrews course.
Mark and Carol are now planning how to get
the most out of their winnings. The couple will
be taking care of their children and Mark will
be buying an Audi RS4. Holidays to Hawaii and
the Bahamas are also on the cards, as well as
a secure retirement for Mark's parents.
"My parents, who live in Stafford, will
be retiring soon and this win means they can
enjoy a very happy retirement," Mark said.
"I always said it would be great to win.
To have won £4.7 million really is a dream
come true."
