Euromillions Winners Victims of Scam Letter – BREAKING NEWS

Euromillions Winners Victims of Scam Letter – BREAKING NEWS

A scam email has been uncovered which is falsely claiming to be from recent Euromillions winners, Adrian and Gillian Bayford. The Bayford’s, who won the jackpot of £148 million on the Euromillions on Friday 10th August 2012, are the second largest Euromillions winners in the UK. The email states that the Bayford’s have decided to donate £800,000 to the recipient as part of their charity project to “improve the lives” of “five individuals around the world plus 10 close friends and family”. The email asks for the name, address and contact number of the recipient to enable their verification, and goes on to state that this is required as the Bayford’s are currently on holiday in Canada and unable to verify the details themselves.

However, the email is a scam, and has not originated from the Bayfords. Anyone who receives such an email is being advised to not act on it and to report it to the police. Confirmation has come from Adrian Bayford’s business partner, Richard Hudspith, who jointly owns the record store with Adrian, that the email is nonsense. He was quoted in the East Anglian Daily Times as saying, “I think we can safely say its complete rubbish, that one.”

The only connections in the email which are true are that the Bayford’s do desire to share their winnings with their friends and family, but have made no other decisions about charitable groups to which they will donate as of yet. Also, although Gillian has expressed an interest in visiting the Rockies in Canada, they are certainly not on holiday there, and the family are believed to still be in Scotland visiting Gillian’s parents.

Anyone who has been the victim of this Euromillions scam or is worried about verifying such emails is advised to look at our page on Lottery scams for more information, and if they are in any doubt as to how genuine an email, letter or phone call is to contact either the Lottery or their local police.
