How to Play Millionaire Maker

The National Lottery Christmas Millionaire Maker* is a special draw (well two draws actually but we'll come to that later) aimed to create more millionaires in one night than in any of the other draws during the year! However, tickets are £5 each!

How does the game work?

The draw is divided into two separate games - Game 1 and Game 2. In Game 1 five main years will be 'drawn' along with a bonus year, and, uncannily similar to the normal lottery, you have to match the five main years to win. You can also win by matching four years plus the bonus year, four years, etc, right down to matching just two years for an estimated £35 prize.

To win Game 2 you have to match the two years chosen for you at random by the lottery machine. One year will be from the last millennium (1000-1999) and one from the new millenium (2000-2999). If you match both years you are guaranteed a million pounds! However, the odds are 1:1,000,000!

How to play

For Game 1 choose your six years (from 1904 to 2003) in the same way as you would play the normal lottery. On the special ticket place six vertical lines in your chosen years and present the ticket to the cashier. You will automatically be given another two years for Game 2.

Alternatively you can choose random numbers by ticking the Lucky Dip panel.

How to win - and what are the odds?

As briefly explained above to win Game 1 you have to match the five years you have chosen with the five years drawn on the night. If you are lucky enough to be the only winner you will scoop an enviable £10,000,000.

In Game 2 if you match the two years chosen for you with the two years drawn you can bank a cool £1,000,000.

The odds of winning *something* are 1:36 and the operators claim that for every million tickets sold there will be one millionaire. The prizes are as follows:

Years to Match The odds Estimated Prizes
5 1:12,547,920 £2,100,000
4 + Bonus Year 1:2,536,282 £108,000
4 1:54,544 £1,900
3 + Bonus Year 1:27,272 £1,400
3 1:889 £145
2 + Bonus Year 1:889 £95
2 1:40 £40

All prizes are estimated and depend on amount of tickets sold. Your overall chances of winning a prize are 1:36
