Lottery Rollovers

Lottery Rollovers occur when no lotto player matches all of the numbers that are required to win the jackpot. Because no jackpot winners means no jackpot payout, the jackpot fund is “rolled over” (added to the jackpot for the next draw), hence the term lottery rollover. It is possible for several lottery rollovers to occur in succession, leading to a final lottery rollover jackpot that is many times bigger than one might expect under normal circumstances.

Of course, lottery rollovers aren’t usually allowed to go keep rolling forever. Instead, limits are written into the rules of lottery games so that if a maximum number of lottery rollovers is reached, the total lottery rollover jackpot fund must be paid out regardless of whether or not there are any jackpot winners. If there are one or more jackpot winners then these will obviously share the expanded lottery rollover jackpot fund, otherwise the lottery jackpot fund is “rolled down” to the next highest prize level that does have winners.

Participating in a game that has, thanks to lottery rollovers, got a much larger jackpot than usual does not cost any more than normal. This makes a lottery rollover draw better value for money because although the chances of one winning the jackpot are still as remote as usual, the payout if one does win will be significantly larger than can normally be expected.

Lottery rollovers always attract the attention of the public, and it isn’t difficult to understand why. If the notion of winning a couple of million is exciting, the idea of winning a lottery rollover jackpot worth 10, 15 or 20 million is even more so. If you’re the sharing type then a lottery rollover win would allow you to give a few million to your family and friends and still have plenty left for yourself. If you aren’t the sharing type then the same lottery rollover win would enable you to shop until you drop not once or twice, but for years to come!

Because lottery rollover jackpots are so desirable, many lottery players choose to buy more tickets when there is a lottery rollover draw. We advise anyone who does this to buy their lottery tickets online so that they don’t risk losing them.
