Caribbean Stud Poker

Caribbean Stud PokerCaribbean Stud Poker has always been popular, but now it is even more so thanks to the online game offering a huge progressive jackpot. Don't worry if you haven't played Caribbean Stud Poker before - it is a fairly simple game to learn and you don't need to be a poker expert to stand a great chance of winning. On the contrary, by the time you finish reading this page you'll know all you need to get started!

The aim of Caribbean Stud Poker is to get a better poker hand with five cards than the dealer. If you don't know anything about poker then the following chart of poker hands will come in useful. The hands are presented in the order of strength, so the first hand (the Royal Flush) is the strongest and the last hand (the pair) is the weakest.

Royal Flush A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit
Straight FlushFive consecutive cards of the same suit
Four of a KindFour cards of the same rank
Full HouseOne Pair and Three of a Kind
FlushAny five cards of the same suit
StraightFive consecutive cards of any suit
Three of a KindThree cards of the same rank
Two PairTwo cards of one rank and two cards of another rank
One PairTwo cards of the same rank

To start with, you need to place an Ante bet. When you have done that both you and the dealer will receive five cards each. You will be able to see all of your own cards, but only one of the dealer's cards will be face-up. You now need to decide whether you want to play the hand that you have been dealt or surrender.

  • If you decide to Play you will need to make another bet equal to twice your original Ante. This is done for you automatically when you press the Play button.
  • If you decide to Surrender then you will automatically lose the game and also the Ante bet that you previously made.

It is important to understand that the dealer will only be allowed to play his hand if he has and Ace and a King or better. You should use that fact, along with knowledge of the dealer's up card and the strength of your own hand, to help you decide whether you want to Play or Surrender.

If you Play the dealer and the dealer's hand does not qualify, your bets are returned. If you both play and you beat the dealer, your bet is paid according to the strength of your hand. The stronger your hand, the more you win!

Should you wish to win seriously life-changing sums of money, you can place a Bonus bet when you make your initial Ante bet. This Bonus bet qualifies you to receive a bonus prize if you get a Flush or better. Get a straight flush and you will win 10% of the progressive jackpot. And if you get a Royal Flush you will win 100% of the progressive jackpot, which is always worth at least £100,000 and usually a lot more!
