BlackjackBlackjack is one of the most popular casino games in the world, and now anyone with an internet connection can play online blackjack with this fantastic game from leading software developers CryptoLogic. Playing Blackjack

The graphics in this blackjack game are incredibly realistic, and you can almost make out the texture of the green baize on the table. Even better, the cards don't simply appear on the screen as they do in some inferior versions of online blackjack - here they are actually dealt by a virtual dealer. The animation is so smooth and convincing, and the sound effects so authentic, that after playing a few hands you are likely to forget that you are sitting in front of your computer.

Playing blackjack isn't particularly complicated, but you do need to be familiar with a handful of rules if you want to maximise your chances of winning. In a nutshell, the aim of the game is for you to make a hand with cards totalling as close to 21 as possible, but without going over. Your hand competes with that of the dealer, and the hand closest to 21 wins. In blackjack, an Ace can count as 1 or 11, a picture card counts as 10 and all other cards count as their face value. A blackjack is a two-card hand totalling 21 exactly.

If the dealer's up-card is an Ace, you will also be offered an Insurance bet which will pay you odds of 2 to 1 if the dealer has a blackjack. All other winning bets are paid at odds of 1 to 1, except getting a blackjack of your own, which pays 3 to 2. If both you and the dealer have the same hand total, a Push (draw) is declared and you get your bet back (but not any insurance bet).

Blackjack sounds more complex than it is, but the great thing about this online blackjack game is that you can play for free and learn as you go along - there's even a full set of rules that you can refer to. Then, when you are confident that you know what you are doing and you are winning your fair share of hands, you can choose to play blackjack for real money and start profiting from your skill!
