In the EuroMillions Family Way

Two UK ticket winners have gone public having won £6,989,367.40 each in the £88million Euromillions draw on Friday 28 September. The fantastic wins go to two family syndicates, one is a six-person syndicate from Cardiff, and the other a two-person syndicate from Chesterfield, all of whom are now some of Britain’s newest millionaires.

At first neither realised how much they’d won on Euromillions as they had only matched the 5 main balls and one lucky number, not the two lucky numbers needed usually to win the jackpot. But this was a special draw where the jackpot would roll down to the next level if no ticket won outright, and that’s exactly what happened so these lucky ticket holders won a lot more than they may have thought possible!

Neville Fisher from Chesterfield and his mother were one syndicate and they are planning a new bungalow and car. First on the list though are some car magazines for Neville to choose which model of Jaguar he will have, to enjoy driving in his retirement. He bought his ticket as a Lucky Dip from Barlborough Post Office with the winning numbers 22,30,34,35,44 (Lucky stars were 4,5).

The winning Cardiff syndicate’s members each get £1,164,894.56 and a luxury caravan each is one of the first items on the shopping list (and we mean luxury as they include a TV in every room, dishwasher and even a bar and all three caravans are next to each other on the site), and then one of the syndicate has his eye on a Jaguar XJ6 after he’s paid off his and his children’s mortgages.

The syndicate were on holiday at the Trecco Bay caravan park in Porthcawl when they found out they had won. Ceri Howe had bought the ticket before some of the family set off to the caravan park to celebrate a family 50th birthday. Ceri’s daughter called them to let them know the winning numbers from the draw and it was then that they realised they’d matched all 5 plus one Lucky Ball on one of their four tickets bought for the special draw. With no idea how much they’d won, they bought some celebratory drinks and had a party in their caravan. Their winning ticket was bought at the Paul Brothers shop in Splott.
