Maximum number of rollovers

A new rule was introduced on 20th January 2006 to cap the number of rollovers that are possible. This will work in a similar way to the cap on the regular National Lottery draw which can have a maximum number of four rollovers. After that the jackpot is re-distributed to the next layers of winners.

So for the EuroMillions draw, if there is no Jackpot winner on week 12 of a roll series, the total Jackpot amount will be distributed amongst any winners in the next winning prize tier which is likely to be the %+1 tier, i.e. matching five main numbers and one of the Star Numbers.

According to the lottery operators' statisticians, such an occurrence 'should' occur once every 25 years. However, there are a number of assumptions in that, such as the number of players staying constant. Since that is unlikely to happen, expect a cap more frequently than every 25 years.

A copy of the updated EuroMillions Game Procedures, with its addendum, and the Players Guide are available from your local National Lottery Retailer, or by phoning the National Lottery Line 0845 910 0000.
