Euromillions Plus is the additional game offered to players in Ireland for an additional cost to the standard price of a Euromillions ticket. Plus was introduced for Irish players in June 2007 with the first draw taking place on 15th June. For this extra cost players have the chance to win a top prize of €500,000 every time a Euromillions draw takes place. All that needs to be done to bring the Plus game into play is pay the additional cost and mark the "Plus" box. Unlike the Millionaire Raffle draw from the UK participation in the Plus game is optional.
Participating in the Euromillions Plus game does not require a player to choose more numbers, the numbers entered for the draw are the same as the main five numbers chosen for the Euromillions game.
Draws for the Euromillions Plus game take place immediately after close of sales (7.30pm) at the National Lottery Headquarters. The draw is supervised by independent observers and National Lottery personnel although the results are not available until directly after the draw on RTE on Tuesday and Friday nights.
Each and every Euromillions Plus game in Ireland has an overall prize fund limited to €3 million. This may not all be distributed amongst the winners across all three prize tiers. On average the Plus game has a prize pool equal to 54.18% of ticket sales entered for the Euromillions Plus draw.
The three prize levels are:
- Match 5 main numbers - €500,000
- Match 4 main numbers - €2,000
- Match 3 main numbers - €20
On occasion there have been Euromillions Plus Extra draws; these special draws see the jackpot on offer in the Plus game increased to €1 million. The first of these draws took place on 31st October 2008.
