Top Tips for Lottery Syndicates
Setting up a lottery syndicate is a great way to increase your chances of winning lottery prizes (the three main steps you need to take are detailed in our article, How To Start a Lottery Syndicate) but once you're up and running, you can also benefit from the following tips:
1 - Keep A Record Of Your Numbers
If your syndicate plays the same set on numbers every week, it's often a good idea to type out a complete list of the lines you enter and give a copy to each syndicate member. This allows everyone to check for winning lines far easier than they would by looking at individual tickets. It also ensures that there will always be someone else with a copy if you lose the original.
2 - Consider Playing In Blocks
If all syndicate members are willing, you could each pay for several weeks worth of draws at once. This would allow you to complete one set of payslips and mark the numbers to be used for up to eight weeks. of course, you will have to be extra careful to make sure you don't make any errors with your selections, as any error would stand for several weeks and not just one.
3 - Use A PC
It isn't very difficult to manually manage a lottery syndicate that has just half a dozen members and plays less than thirty lines of numbers every week, but once a syndicate gets beyond that size it's often easier to start using a PC to help ease the burden. A PC can store the names and addresses of syndicate members in a database, keep records of winnings in a spreadsheet, and enable you to make your entries (and check your numbers) via the internet.
4 - Have a Rollover Strategy
Because rollover jackpots offer greater value for money, you may like to consider a strategy of playing more lines for rollover games. This will obviously require the agreement of all syndicate members, but even if everyone agreed to invest just one more pound, your chances of winning a bigger than normal prize would still be increased.
5 - Review Regularly
It is a good idea to hold a meeting of all syndicate members on a fairly regular basis. We don't mean every week by any means, but perhaps two or three times each year. This will give members the opportunity to confirm whether they are still happy with the way the syndicate is being run, and to put forward suggestions for any changes they would like to be considered.
6 - Have Fun!
This is the most important tip of all. Running a syndicate can sometimes feel like a bit of a chore, so try to remember why you're doing it in the first place - to increase your chances of winning the lottery and to enjoy participating. So, run your syndicate well by all means, but never forget to have fun whilst you’re doing it!
