Lottery syndicates are groups of people who buy their lottery tickets as a collective, sharing the cost equally between the members and at the same time agreeing to share all prize money that their tickets happen to win. Because being part of a lottery syndicate gives each member a greater chance of winning than they would enjoy when playing as individuals, syndicates are extremely popular. In this lottery article we present a handful of suggestions that those of you who already belong to a syndicate might want to pass onto your syndicate leader. And for those of you who don’t yet belong to a syndicate, why not consider starting one and using some of these suggestions from the outset?
Suggestion #1 – Cover Every Number
Our first suggestion is that you buy enough lottery tickets to cover every number possible in the lottery game concerned. There are several ways to do this and you can choose the one that is most appropriate for the budget of your particular syndicate.
For example, if you are playing the Lotto game which uses the numbers 1 to 49, you could include each of 49 numbers once (with a few gaps left over) with just 9 tickets (9 x 6 numbers on each ticket = 54 numbers entered in total). You would still need a hefty share of luck for one of your tickets to win the jackpot, but at least you would always get all of the numbers that come up, and you could well win several consolation prizes each year even if the jackpot remains elusive.
Or, still using the Lotto game for illustration purposes, a larger syndicate could pick five numbers as the ones they want to rely on and then buy 44 tickets, each consisting of the five main numbers and one of the other 44 numbers available in the range 1 to 49. That would ensure that if your five main numbers come up, all of your tickets would win a prize and one of your tickets would automatically have the sixth main number required for the jackpot.
Suggestion #2 – Have Multiple Checkers
Although it is a good idea to have one syndicate leader who takes overall responsibility for organising things, it is also a good idea to have several members who are each responsible for checking the lottery results independently. This helps to ensure that any prizes won are discovered at the earliest opportunity, and it also means that double and triple checking of results is made easier when a major prize has been landed.
Suggestion #3 – Save Minor Prizes for Special Draws
Our third suggestion for lottery syndicates is to keep the prize money gained from modest wins (for example, £100 or less) in a separate pot for the purpose of buying extra lottery tickets whenever there is a particularly special draw (for example, a superdraw or triple rollover draw). Of course, all syndicate members would have to agree to such a proposal (modest prize money is, after all, still prize money that all members are entitled to) but if they were keen to do so then you could yourselves a much bigger chance of winning a massive jackpot whenever one happens to come along.
Not all lottery syndicates will want to act on all of these suggestions, but they are certainly worthy of consideration. If you do act on any of them, don’t forget that you can buy lottery tickets online and check lottery results for your syndicate right here, so be sure to bookmark this site for future reference if you haven’t done so already.
