Picking Personal Numbers
Many lottery jackpot winners attribute their success to the fact that they picked numbers that were personally meaningful to them. Since all lines of six numbers have an equal chance of being selected at random (a 1 in 13,983,816 chance, to be precise) this theory isn’t scientifically valid, but you certainly won’t lessen your odds of winning by picking personal numbers, so here are some ideas if you’d like to try this approach...
Telephone Numbers – Your phone number could inspire the Lottery to ring up a fortune for you, so consider using this as the basis of your entry. If your phone number is 01234 567890 then you could play 1, 23, 45, 6, 7 and 8 or maybe 1, 23, 34, 45, 6 and 7. Or you could drop the dialling code and just play 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
National Insurance Number – Your NI number consists of two letters six numbers and a final letter; for example, XX 12 34 56 Y. You could therefore enter 12, 23, 34, 45, 5 and 6.
Dates – Your date of birth, the date of your wedding or the date on which your first child was born could all be used as the basis of your lottery entry. If your date of birth is 25-07-1970 you might play 2, 5, 7, 19, 25 and any other number of your choice, such as your current age.
Account Number – Since any lottery jackpot you win is likely to land in your bank account, you could use your account number to try and win in the first place. As with your telephone number, you can easily generate double digit numbers by using consecutive digits. For example, if your account number is 17543712, you might choose to play 1, 17, 5, 43, 37 and 12.
ISBNs – If you have a favourite book then you could play numbers based on the ISBN of that book, which can be found on the back cover. If the ISBN of your favourite book is 0-572-03134-3, you might play 5, 7, 20, 31, 34 and 3.
As we said at the beginning of this article, using personal numbers won’t increase your chances of winning the lottery, but they won’t lower your chances either. If you aren’t having any luck with random Lucky Dip numbers, try one of the ideas presented here and see if the situation improves. And good luck!
