Budget Boosters
Would you like to play more lottery lines per year without increasing your overall expenditure? If your answer to this question is yes, here are a number of ways to boost your lottery budget by making very tiny changes in other areas of life that you probably won’t even notice....
Skip the Paper – Because the latest news is broadcast on television long before it appears in the papers, newspapers these days are luxuries rather than necessities. With the average newspaper costing around 50p on week days and £1 or more on Sundays, you could save over £200 if you stop buying all newspapers. Just skip the Sunday papers and you’ll save over £50 a week – enough for one extra lottery line every Saturday night. You’ll also help to save a few dozen trees in the process!
Switch Insurers – Most people don’t bother switching their insurance companies when it comes to renewing policies covering their cars, homes or contents, but if you shop around you could save a small fortune by switching to a more economical provider. If you have several policies, you could save hundreds of pounds every year.
Pay by DD – If you currently pay your household utility bills the old fashioned way (which means writing out a cheque and sending it by mail) you could switch to paying by Direct Debit and receive a discount on every bill you pay. Many people can save at least £5 a month by doing this, which would give you £60 extra per year for your dream numbers.
Save Tax Free – If you have savings tucked away then you will probably be paying tax on any interest you earn. Take advantage of all the tax-free savings vehicles you are entitled to use (for example, by saving in a cash ISA) and you’ll keep all of your interest, leaving you with the money that the tax man would normally take.
Download Music – Do you spend anything from £10 to £15 for music on CD? If do, you could save yourself anything from £3 to £7 a time by downloading your music in a digital format from an online store such as iTunes. Even if you spend an extra 50p burning the music to your own CD for the car, you’ll save pounds that can be used to help boost your lottery chances.
None of these ideas calls for any great sacrifice, but collectively they could help you to free up hundreds of pounds, if not a thousand or more. Whilst you probably won’t want to use all of that extra cash on Lotto games, you’ll certainly be able to boost your lottery budget and it won’t cost you a penny more than you’re already spending elsewhere. Who knows – the extra lines you play could make you rich!
